Cable Technician **Secret Clearance**

GCyber is currently seeking a Cable Technician to support a Department of Defense customer in Arlington, VA. As the Cable Technician, you will support the installation and documentation of new and/or updated Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & other JSP-supported buildings within the NCR.

**This position requires an active DoD Secret clearance**  

What You Will Do:

  • Analyze, administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure 
  • Execute communications and cabling-related service orders and repair activities related to Category 6 (CAT6) cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP/VOSIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure
  • Interpret service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Dress, terminate and test cables and components; must be willing and able to work with power tools and ladders
  • Install, maintain, and repair voice and data communications systems
  • Test, locate, install, and repair cabling infrastructure associated with trouble calls, and performs routine maintenance
  • Verify cabling work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information
  • Document network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications
  • Must be well-versed in the use of network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters
  • Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation
  • Identify, track, and remove abandoned cable, and keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards
  • Participates in special projects as required


  • Active Secret Clearance
  • 3-5 years of related telecommunications experience (e.g., cabling infrastructure installation, testing, maintenance, repair)
  • Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience.
  • Experience with network cabling test equipment including network testers, copper cable testers, fiber OTDRs, and fiber power meters
  • Familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standard
  • Ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong customer service experience is highly preferred
