Cybersecurity Tools Administrator

GCyber is seeking a Cybersecurity Tools Administrator to support a Federal Government client in Alexandria, Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess experience supporting Linux based operating systems and the ACAS (Nessus) platform. Additionally they will demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and reliability.  

Work Performed 

The Administrator will work to ensure the reliability and operation of current cybersecurity tools and will assist in the design, deployment, and operations of deployed cybersecurity solutions.  The administrator will also work with other teams to support the client’s vision and strategy. As a member of a larger team the administrator may be required to support additional cybersecurity tools (e.g. McAfee ENS).  

*Due to COVID restrictions this role is currently performed as a hybrid work environment with approximately 30% of the work being performed onsite.  

Responsibilities include 

  • Admin will be responsible for configuration and maintenance of various security tools running in a Linux-based environment to include SIEM, Tenable Nessus, and other security toolsets as needed by the customer 

  • Install, configure, and maintain software 

  • Administer and maintain Linux servers and Linux based appliances 

  • Ensure systems remain up to date with the latest patches and security updates 

  • Monitor system performance and health and take proactive action to address any concerns 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise 

  • Ensure systems are adequately backed up and that sufficient configuration documentation and restoration procedures exist in the event of a failure 

  • Assist virtualization team with the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux based VMware hypervisors 

Clearance Requirements 

  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher 

Required Skills 

  • Linux System Administration experience (RHEL/CentOS) 

  • Tenable Administration (ACAS Solution) 

Required Experience and Education 

  • B.S. Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or similar field. Experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 

Additional Beneficial Experience (Not Required) 

  • Tanium Administration 

  • McAfee ENS Administration 

  • McAfee SIEM
